|Simulator Training using an Advanced
Training Device (AATD)
Our Elite iGATE 501 is an Advanced ATD, with aircraft modules for both the Cessna 172R and the Beech Bonanza A36. The iGATE 501 is equivalent to a level 3 FTD, but without control loading.
Training in the iGATE 501 can be productively combined with flight instruction to minimize your training costs while giving you the experience of flying any instrument approach in the USA. You can practice all types of approaches in the iGATE 501 before you fly them for real at Pensacola Regional (KPNS) or other nearby airports.
Note that our simulator is especially economical for attaining your Commercial certificate - 20% of your minimum 250 hours can be logged in our iGATE 501!

* Advanced ATDs and/or FTDs used for the Practical Test are limited to one precision and one non-precision approach. The IR PTS states in part that an applicant must accomplish at least two non-precision approaches. In addition, Advanced ATDs and FTDs are not approved for recovery from unusual flight attitudes (except level 7 FTD), circling approaches, and landing from a straight-in or circling approach. Therefore, you can take your entire check ride in the iGATE 501 except for
1) recovery from unusual flight attitudes, and
2) a non-precision approach to a landing using a circling approach (KPNS VOR 8, for example)
** Advanced ATDs and/or FTDs used for an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) are not approved for recovery from unusual flight attitudes (except level 7 FTD), circling approaches, and landing from a straight-in or circling approach.
